Haryana Assembly Election results: Close fight as incumbent BJP leads in 41, Congress in 34 seats

The counting for the Haryana assembly elections are underway today on 8 October. As per the latest results the Nayab Saini-led incumbent BJP is leading in 41 seats while Congress is leading in 34 seats.

Out of the total 81 seats, INLD and the Bahujan Samaj Pary are leading in 1 seat each, and independent candidates are leading in 4 seats. No winner has been declared yet. However as the counting is still in the early stages, the current leads may change.

Overall, the BJP and Congress seem to be in a close contest contrary to what was predicted by exit polls. Most exit polls had showed a decisive Congress victory as a result of BJP facing 10 years of anti-incumbency.
