The counting for the Haryana Assembly elections is underway, and the incumbent BJP is looking at a victory. Senior BJP leader Anil Vij has won from the Ambala Cantt seat by more than 7000 votes. He defeated the closest rival independent candidate Chitra Sarwara who managed to get 52,581 votes.
The BJP is currently leading in 33 seats and has already won 17 other seats. Congress is leading in 20 seats and has won 15 other seats, hinting a possible tally of 35 seats.
Among other candidates, senior ‘farmer leader’ Gurnam Singh Charuni, the chief of Bharatiya Kisan Union’s Haryana division, and the founder of Sanyukt Sangharsh Party has lost by a margin of more than 63000 votes in the Pehowa seat. Congress’ Mandeep Chatha has won the Pehowa seat by over 6500 votes from nearest rival BJP’s Jai Bhagwan Sharma.
