Jammu and Kashmir election results: PDP’s Iltija Mufti accepts defeat in Srigufwara-Bijbehara seat, JKNC leads in 42 seats

The counting for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections is on. As per the latest updates in the Election Commission website, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference is leading in 42 seats, while BJP is leading in 28 seats. Congress is leading in 8 seats so far.

Iltija Mufti, the daughter of former CM Mehbooba Mufti has conceded defeat in the Bjbehara seat. As per latest data, Iltija Mufti was trailing behind JKNC’s Bashir Ahmed Shah Veeri by over 7000 votes. This was Iltija’s first election as a candidate in her mother’s party.

“I accept the verdict of the people. The love & affection I received from everyone in Bijbehara will always stay with me. Gratitude to my PDP workers who worked so hard throughout this campaign”, she tweeted.
