Deoband Ulema proclaims that Muslim women who performed Lord Ram’s Aarti are no longer Muslims

On Wednesday a positive news was reported from Varanasi that, on the eve of Diwali a group of Muslim women had sang praises of Lord Ram and had even performed his Aarti.

As per Nazneen Ansari the group’s leader, Lord Ram was their ancestor and even if they changed their name and religion, how could they change their ancestor. As per her, singing the names of Lord Ram reflected the generosity of Islam and bridged the gap between Hindus and Muslims.

In the program organised by Muslim Mahila Foundation and Vishal Bharat Sansthan, the Muslim women along with Hindus also recited the Hanuman Chalisa. A similar incident was also reported from Lucknow where too Muslim women performed Lord Ram’s Aarti and sang his Bhajans.

Now it seems that this display of composite culture wasn’t taken too kindly by the Deoband Ulema. As per reports [1][2], the Ulema has proclaimed that the Muslim women who performed lord Ram’s Aarti are no longer Muslims. As per the Ulema, it has been clearly stated in Islam that if any Muslim prays to anyone except Allah, they have forsaken Islam.

As per the Mohatameen Maulana Mufti, Sharif Khan, worshiping anyone except Allah is against Islam. So those Muslim women who have performed Lord Ram’s Aarti in Varanasi, Lucknow or in any place in this world cannot be called Muslims according to Shariat. Now the women have been advised that they admit their mistake and re-read the Kalma for getting readmitted into the faith.

This isn’t the only time Deoband’s Ulema has been in the news for strange reasons. It was recently reported how the Darul Uloom Deoband had issued a fatwa which banned Muslims from posting their or their family’s pictures on social media. This fatwa was prompted by a query which was submitted to the fatwa department of Darul Uloom Deoband.
