Rahul Gandhi gets welcomed with ‘Modi, Modi’ chants in Surat

Rahul Gandhi, who is in poll bound Gujarat to mark one year of demonetisation, today visited textile market in Surat, Gujarat. Much to his embarrassment, he was welcomed with chants of ‘Modi, Modi’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ despite Gujarat Congress’ efforts to paint demonetisation and GST a complete failure.

This is not it. The 80 year old retired army man, who has been painted as the face of demonetisation, has said that his crying picture was captured when he was pushed by someone and a woman stepped on his foot, and not because of demonetisation, as portrayed.

A tweet posted by Congress Rahul Gandhi had the image of teary eyed Nand Lal, which said even a drop of tear (of citizens) should be considered a warning for the king, as you have not seen the tears turn into oceans.

However, the same has backfired since Nand Lal has gone ahead and praised demonetisation and other steps taken by Narendra Modi.

Rahul Gandhi, while meeting diamond traders in Surat, said that demonetisation and GST has broken the legs of Surat, which is a textile and diamonds hub. However, though demonetisation did bring a setback in the diamond industry, but the shine seems to be returning to the diamond market as digital transactions have made things smoother for the traders.

Clearly, Rahul Gandhi does not seem to be having a good day in Gujarat.
