He can be seen shoving away the classical royal attire worn by the Kings of the Wodeyar dynasty. The traditional headgear was also worn by men attending the king’s Court.
The traditional headgear is deeply embedded in the culture of the state. It is often presented to honour visiting dignitaries or guests. BJP President Amit Shah had also worn the Mysuru Peta during his visit to Karnataka last year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has earned a reputation of wearing the traditional headgear of different communities of India during his visits, was also seen sporting the Mysuru Peta.
The Congress Vice President had earlier sparked a controversy by proclaiming Tipu Sultan to be a symbol of communal harmony. Assembly election in Karnataka will be held in May this year, with polls on the 12th and results will be declared on the 15th of May.
