We need interns!

We need interns!

First thing first – it doesn’t mean we are looking for free work. It will be a paid association. You will be paid stipend that matches industry standards. It will be a three-month association, to begin with, and could be renewed further or changed into a regular job based on your and OpIndia’s performance.

What is the job description?

Your job can be threefold :

  1. Writing news reports – around 4-5 every day. Articles that are curated from largely reliable sources/publications, and are generally of the nature that the mainstream media will not highlight or report about. This needs to be done after fact-checking.
  2. Keeping an eye on mainstream media and media talking heads, which and who are known to twist facts.
  3. Assist in research when it comes to our investigative pieces or fact-checking articles.

Location?

If you are in Kolkata or Bangalore, you can choose to come to our office premises, or you can work from home using internet-based technologies. Essentially, your current city of residence is not a problem.

Who can apply?

You are fresh out of college, or on a break between jobs, or looking for a job, or a freelancer working from home, or maybe a student who can somehow manage to be online and work during the day (and sometimes in the late evenings too).

Who cannot apply?

A typical virtue signalling left-liberal wannabe. Or if you believe that NDTV is a non-partisan media house.

Essential qualifications?

Should have proper knowledge and command of English. Should be a news junkie. Should not be digitally illiterate or clumsy – should be aware of WordPress publishing, should be able to undertake basic image and rich-text editing, and generally, know how the internet works. Your stream of studies doesn’t matter, but you should have logical and analytical abilities and research skills. You should be available online virtually all the time (but we won’t make you work all the time).

Bonus qualifications?

Should have some articles on politics or current affairs published, even personal blogs count. If some articles were contributed to OpIndia (or MyVoice), that’d surely be a bonus qualification. Being active on social media is a desired and bonus qualification too.

How to apply?

Send an email to opindia.com@gmail.com with “Application for internship” (please use this and this exact phrase only) as the subject line with one sample work of writing attached and details about yourself. You can choose a sample news report that you believe a mainstream media house won’t normally publish or highlight.

Last date of application

Send it in by 11:59:59 PM on 7th April 2018.

Will I get a response?

Yes, you will be responded to, regardless of whether you are selected or not. The response might not be immediate, so please be patient. Everyone will get a response latest by 10th April 2018 end of the day.
