A case has been registered against divisive caste activist MLA from Gujarat, Jignesh Mevani, for his remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging youth to disrupt his April 15 meeting by throwing chairs in the air at an event in Chitradurga, about 200 km from Bengaluru.
He has been quoted as saying, “The role of youth is important today. When Modi Ji arrives at Bengaluru on April 15 to address a public gathering you mingle with the crowd, throw the chairs in the air and disturb his meeting,” before going on to add, “You ask him what happened to the promise of two crore jobs every year. If he fails to give an answer, then tell him to go sleep in Himalaya or ring the Rama Temple bells.”

Jignesh Mevani has been spotted engaging in controversial behaviour in the past. He had used extremely derogatory words for the Prime Minister when he said on a news channel that Narendra Modi should “go to the Himalayas and melt his bones” which colloquially means “go and die”. Republic TV had also aired a video of the MLA where he could be seen inciting people to commit violence 12 hours before the Bhima-Koregaon violence ensued. On another occasion, he was caught abusing the Police.
the case was registered under sections 153, 188, 117 and 34 of the IPC.
