Delhi High Court today slammed media houses for disclosing identity of eight year old Kathua rape victim and sent notices to media houses to pay Rs. 10 lakh to the court which will be transferred to J&K victim’s compensation fund. The Delhi High Court had sent notices to Media houses recently for disclosing the identity of the minor victim.

The court also said that anyone who discloses the rape victim’s identity can be imprisoned for 6 months.

The media has been spinning a political and communal yarn around the Kathua rape case with scant regard for facts. Recently, the Congress social media head had lied on NDTV and the anchor of the show, Nidhi Razdan had not bothered to correct her. The media had also given a political colour to the heinous crime by claiming that the rapists were being shielded, while that doesn’t seem to be the case. However, we had recently reported that all the accused in the case had plead not guilty and demanded narco tests to prove their innocence.
