A 31-year-old Sikh widow and mother of three from Hoshiarpur, who had gone to Pakistan to celebrate Baisakhi festival as part of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Sikh delegation, has reportedly married a Lahore based man and converted to Islam. Her family alleges that she may have fallen into the hands of Pakistan’s Inter-service Intelligence and forced to convert and remarry saying there has been no official communication from any quarter about her current status.
According to reports, she went to Pakistan on 12th April on her Indian passport with Pakistani visa valid till 21st April. However, she went missing on 16th April when she reportedly embraced Islam at Darul-Aloom Jamia Naeemia in Lahore on 16 April and later had a “nikah” with Pakistani national Muhammed Azam.
The woman, who is a widow and mother of three children was living in her village with her in-laws. Her father in law, Tarsem Singh, believes that she might have come in touch with Pakistani national, whom she reportedly married, through Facebook.
Curiously, her visa extension application has her name mentioned as Amna Bibi, while she has signed it as Amina. Pakistan Home Ministry has granted her six months visa extension.
