Usual elements share photoshopped image of TOI headline to undermine Modi-XI meet

An alleged headline of a Times of India article has been doing the rounds on social media which mocked the meet between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The headline read, “Modi, Xi will mate 6 times in 24 hours”.

The headline was shared by the usual people including the Executive Editor at the Caravan, Vinod K. Jose, and disgraced former IPS Officer, Sanjiv Bhatt.

However, today the official Twitter handle of Times of India tweeted a clarification over the matter and stated that the ridiculous headline doing the rounds was photoshopped. As evidence, they presented images of the correct headline and asserted that all their editions carry the correct headline.

A trend has emerged in recent times where the usual elements try to undermine Prime Minister Modi’s meets with leaders of powerful nations by concerted attempts at mocking Narendra Modi. Recently, the Congress party had attempted to undermine Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s historic visit to India by tweeting a juvenile video of the Indian PM hugging world leaders. Congress had also attempted to drag domestic politics into Japanese PM Shinzo Abe’s diplomatic visit to India while claiming credit for the Bullet Train and slamming Narendra Modi for it simultaneously.

Narendra Modi is in China for a bilateral meet between the two countries after the relationship between the two countries became considerably strained during the Doklam dispute. The Indian Prime Minister and Chinese President will discuss matters of global importance and Indo-China relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective during what is being dubbed a “heart-to-heart” meeting.
