Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar shames India in Pakistan, again

Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has courted controversy again when he hailed Mohammad Ali Jinnah for his role in the freedom movement and even referred to him as Quaid-e-Azam. Aiyar had expressed his view with reference to backlash over placing Jinnah’s portrait in Aligarh Muslim University. The Congress leader who is close to the Nehru-Gandhi family has been known to give pro-Pakistan statements.

He praised Jinnah in his speech as one of the most influencing leaders of Freedom Movement and also defended him for his role in Partition and accused Indian freedom fighters like Veer Savarkar for the partition. This speech was delivered in Lahore, Pakistan.

In a bid to defend his statements on Jinnah, he later praised Pakistan for its ‘tolerance’ and prevailing conditions to express his views. Interestingly Pakistan is accused in International forums as one of the most intolerant countries in the world.

He added, “Approximately 70 percent of Indian electorate did not vote for Modi in the last election, but lost because they were completely fractioned among themselves. It is my fervent hope that a great fraction of this 70 percent who did not vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will come together to be able to put an end to the aberration that we have been suffering in our country.”

BJP President Amit Shah accused Congress of working with Pakistan to destabilize the Government. He said that Congress and Pakistan government have an understanding of certain issues at the time of elections. BJP even accused Congress of colluding with Pakistan to influence the elections in Karnataka. Earlier BJP had accused them of asking Pakistan’s help during Gujarat Election.

It is the not the first time that Mr Aiyar has expressed his love to terror exporting country. Earlier he had called for the support of Pakistan to not only remove the current government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi but also to help Congress come to power. Earlier he had also called the Prime Minister a chaiwala and said he doesn’t deserve to be a Prime Minister.

He had also referred to the Prime Minister as ‘Neech’ during Gujarat Elections. Aiyar who is a frequent visitor to Pakistan has not shied away from expressing his love for the terror state, Pakistan. The Congress Party should come clean about its view on Mani Shankar Aiyar’s statements since as we had reported earlier, the saga of Mani Shankar Aiyar’s “suspension” from the Congress party seems like a sham and an attempt at damage control by Rahul Gandhi.
