24 Bangladeshi youth with suspected terror links were held in Tripura yesterday. According to reports, they were held by the Mobile Task Force(MTF) at the Agartala railway station.

All of them were reportedly carrying fake Aadhar cards and were nabbed at the station after MTF personnel, acting on a tip-off raided them on the station. They were reportedly travelling in the Tripura Sundari Express from Delhi. The MTF is a section of state police that deals with illegal immigration.
Abhijit Chowdhury, SP, MTF has reportedly stated that the fake Aadhar cards were all issued from West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and some of them had ID cards issued by different madrassas of the country. He also reportedly added that none of them had any valid passports and three of them had long expired Bangladeshi passports.
Chowdhury also reportedly added that their possible links with terror outfits cannot be ruled out and a team of NIA officials from Guwahati will be coming to interrogate them on Friday. The MTF had checked the Aadhar cards online and found them to be fake.
It is notable here that several Bangladeshis illegally living in India has been found involved in crimes. Illegal immigration has long been a problem for the North Eastern states and after CM Biplab Deb took charge, he had stated that border vigilance will be tightened with the help of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Tripura shares a more than 800 km border with Bangladesh.
