Mayawati sacks BSP vice president for calling Rahul Gandhi a ‘foreigner’

A day after BSP Vice President Jai Prakash Singh called Rahul Gandhi a foreigner, Mayawati has sacked him. According to reports, Mayawati has stated that she came to know that Jai Prakash Singh has violated party principles and attacked another political leader on personal issues. She added that she has decided to remove Singh from the party with immediate effect.

Jai Prakash Singh has stated yesterday at BSP workers’ conference that Rahul resembles his mother more than his father and hence cannot be a PM candidate because his mother is a foreigner. He had also added that Mayawati is the ‘dabang’ leader who can halt the winning spree of Modi-Shah duo.

According to reports, Mayawati has also stated that in Uttar Pradesh and other states as well, Party workers of BSP should refrain from making any comments related to an alliance with other parties until it is officially announced.

Mayawati’s statement comes amidst rife speculations about a possible BSP-Congress alliance for the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year. Reports had suggested that while Congress is keen for an alliance with BSP for Madhya Pradesh, Congress state units in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh are unwilling for an alliance with BSP. BSP, on the other hand, reportedly wants an ‘all or none’ deal for the 3 states.

Mayawati had earlier announced that she will remain in active politics for another 20-22 years and to maintain its image of a non-dynastic party, she would sack her brother Anand Kumar as the party vice president. It is notable here that before the Lok Sabha by-polls in UP, BSP and SP had tied up and BSP had refrained from fielding candidates for the by-polls.
