Cow smugglers were locked in a battle with the police in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur on the early hours of Monday when the smugglers fired at the cops and also broke barricades, Dainik Bhaskar has reported.
As per the report, the truck being driven by cow smugglers broke a police barrier near Sarsa square which it was being chased by a police van. Following this, the smugglers who were in possession of the bovines started firing on the police, after which they sped away towards the jungle.
Later the police found the truck stuck in a ditch at about 1:40 AM, where 21 cows were found trapped in the vehicle. The report claims that 12 out of the 21 cows were found dead and the rest nine were sent by the police to a cow shelter.
According to an Aaj Tak report, the cow smugglers fled after their vehicle was stuck but the police are yet to ascertain the identity of the smugglers.
As has been widely reported in the past, cow smugglers have time and again been caught indulging in criminal activities to facilitate their illegal trade.
Just a couple of days back, news had emerged from Bangalore’s KR Puram wherein a cow died a very painful death after a gang of unidentified culprits tried to steal it. As per the report, the criminals had tied the poor animal’s legs and were dragging her when she got stuck in a barbed wire. She was later found dead in a pool of blood.
Similarly, it was also reported last month that Muslim cow smugglers were caught sporting Hindu religious symbols to protect themselves from getting caught while being involved in criminal activities like cow smuggling and slaughtering.
Last year it was also reported how a group of tourists were attacked and molested by cow smugglers after they opposed the beating and torture being inflicted upon the poor bovines.
