The recent raids conducted on the ‘Urban Maoists’ by the Pune Police, have been carried out by keeping the Ministry of Home Affairs in the loop, reports Republic TV.

The Maharashtra Chief Secretary has been in touch with the Union Home Secretary regarding the arrests of the ‘Urban Naxals’. Reportedly, the Maharashtra Police has raided the premises of the ‘Maoist sympathisers’, only after it received inputs from the Intelligence Bureau. It is also said that the Home Ministry is completely aware of these raids.
The Maharashtra Police seems to have covered all the grounds with respect to the evidence needed to take action against the arrested individuals. Reportedly, the massive nationwide crackdown has been initiated only after it received inputs from both central and state intelligence agencies. The Maharashtra government has been briefing the Centre since the beginning of the raids and also been in constant touch with the Home Ministry officials.
As reported by Republic TV, there could be future raids in the next 24-48 hours, as there are more actionable intelligence available to the police to conduct further raids.

The searches were conducted in the residence of activist P Varavara Rao in Hyderabad, ‘human rights activist’ and ‘journalist’ Gautam Navlakha in Delhi, ‘activists Vernon Gonzalves and Arun Pereira in Mumbai, ‘civil rights’ lawyer Sudha Bhardwaj in Delhi, civil rights ‘activist’ Anand Teltumbde in Goa and ‘activist’ Stan Swamy in Ranchi.
