‘We will ally with crooks after winning elections against them’: Kejriwal misquoted by pro-AAP blog

Aam Aadmi Party supremo, Arvind Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal is a legend of our times. His persona and the reflecting glory that his party AAP receives is so profound that they defy every law of logic and understanding of mortal realms. AAP is more ironical than irony itself, more satirical than the choicest satires and as its supremo is considered the master of U-turns, their brand of politics has become so confusing that even their staunchest supporters sometimes have no clue what is real and what is a satire.

As Poe’s law states, without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humour, it is sometimes impossible to distinguish between a genuine article and a satire. The entire aura of Kejriwal and AAP is such that even the pro-AAP blog ‘Janta Ka Reporter, missed out on differentiating a parody from the real news when it concerned AAP and its master.

As political calculations and number games were rife for the election of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, AAP leader Sanjay Singh had announced yesterday that AAP will abstain from voting as Congress President Rahul Gandhi did not deem it fit to give Arvind Kejriwal a phone call asking for his support. In their words, “Rahul Gandhi can hug the PM but cannot even call Arvind Kejriwal.”

Well, NDA candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh won by a margin of 20 votes and considering even Rahul Gandhi had made that much-anticipated call, the UPA candidate would then have lost by 17 votes. But AAP is AAP, so the sulking and criticising continued, even Sanjay Singh went ahead and declared, Congress is the biggest obstacle on the path of ‘opposition unity’.

Amidst all this melodrama, AAP centric blog Janta Ka Reporter dropped another bombshell. They declared that AAP will not be a part of any pre-poll alliance against BJP, ‘quoting’ Arvind Kejriwal. In their article, they claimed that Congress is miffed at AAP for not voting for them and Congress leaders are now attacking AAP, by citing Sharmistha Mukherjee, who is neither an MP nor an MLA.

That was not all, the real bombshell was embedded (quite literally) deeper in the article. The article declared that Arvind Kejriwal has stated that AAP will not be part of any anti-BJP alliance before 2019 elections. It claimed Kejriwal has declared that he will join the crooks only ‘after’ the elections.

The source for the claim is Times How (the satire Twitter handle), not Times Now. This was the embedded Tweet in the article,

They have now rectified the mistake and Tweeted an apology admitting the error. We do not blame Janta Ka Reporter. After all, Arvind Kejriwal is the reigning god of ironies, the deity of satires and the messiah of contradictions. He did make similar claims in the past. He had sworn never to take the support of Congress and done exactly that weeks later. He had claimed AAP is anti-corruption but had cheered for Lalu Prasad Yadav. Their promises and claims are a saga of countless wi-fi connections a million CCTVs.

It is the greatness of AAP that it contradicts the biggest contradictions. The lines of satire and news do not blur when Arvind Kejriwal is concerned because, like the fabled philosophical universe of matter and energy, reality and parody merge into each other in AAP’s dimension of existence. Like we said before, it is not for us mere mortals.
