Antigua assures full cooperation in extradition of multi-crore scam accused Mehul Choksi

The Foreign Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, EP Chet Greene, has assured his Indian counterpart External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj full cooperation in extradition of multi-crore PNB scam accused Mehul Choksi, who has last year taken citizenship of Antigua.

The issue of extradition was raised by Swaraj during the bilateral meeting held with the Antiguan Foreign Minister on the sidelines of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session currently underway in New York. Expressing their commitment towards Choksi’s extradition, Antiguan Foreign Minister said that their government is trying their best.

The financial fraud accused Mehul Choksi had recently announced he had become a citizen of the Carribean island Antigua in November 2017 for expanding his business. Antigua is known for providing visa free travel to 132 countries and freedom from extradition. Choksi, along with his nephew Nirav Modi are wanted in connection with a Rs 13,000 crore financial fraud against Punjab National Bank.
