Today the convoy of West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh was allegedly attacked by TMC workers in East Midnapore district, where several persons suffered serious injuries. Ghosh was going to attend a party program when his convoy of around 10-12 cars reportedly came under the attack. Party workers who came to attend the party meeting also found themselves attacked.
Talking to media, Ghosh blamed TMC workers form the attack, blaming local Trinamool MP Dibyendu Adhikari for the same. He said, “The TMC workers broke the window panes of my car and damaged 15 motorbikes that were a part of the contingent accompanying me. Three of our workers have received serious injuries in the attack”. He also alleged that Adhikari was present at the spot of the attack.
Adhikari has denied the allegation, saying he was only passing through that location and that the attack was the result of internal conflicts inside BJP. He said, “I was passing through the area when I came to know that Ghosh was shown black flags by his own party men. The attack was the result of the saffron party’s internal fight”.
Images posted by the Twitter account of Bengal unit of BJP show that windows of Ghosh’s car were shattered. The photos also show party workers taking shelter behind a half wall from attack by stones. The photos also show blood on the floor. BJP also alleged that the situation was not under control and WB police did nothing to stop the attacks.
Police have claimed that a huge number of policemen has been deployed at the area and situation is under control now. They also informed that they are trying to identify the attackers.
After the attack in Midnapore, members of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha staged a protest in Kolkata. They were reportedly forcefully detained by police despite staging a peaceful protest and were taken way in vehicles.

Violent clashes between BJP and TMC are nothing new in West Bengal. Ahead of Panchayat Elections, TMC had launched a series of attacks on BJP workers, including several murders. Even after the Panchayat elections were over, many have since been killed.
