Bengal: Intelligence agency warn of terror attacks on Durga Puja pandals by Bangladeshi terror organisation

In a startling development, West Bengal police has been warned of a terrorist attack on Puja Pandals on the occasion of Durga Puja, by Central Intelligence Agencies, reports Zee Media. Intelligence reports point towards outlawed Bangladesh based Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh of executing a clandestine operation of installing operators in Bengal and then attacking festive activities in Bengal.

Reports suspect the existence of 4 member cadre who have been given the job by JAM, out of which two have reportedly taken haven at Dinhata red light area, and remaining two are preparing to infiltrate in coming days.

Intelligence reports have marked four places in North Bengal – Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Alipurduar and Siliguri, as being highly susceptible to the ongoing terror plot. Dinhata, where two terrorists have reportedly taken refuge, falls in one the marked districts of Coochbehar.

JAM terrorists are reported to be equipped with weapons, which they procured from Nepal.

JAM is no new terror organization to have popped up recently. They have been on the radar after the blast that happened in Burdwan district of Bengal, at the eve of Durga Puja celebrations, two years ago. They have been active in Bangladesh, and demand formation of an Islamic theocratic state based on sharia, replacing the constitutionally secular republic of Bangladesh.

A website called www.trackingterrorism.org has an admission of JAM’s chief Maulana Saidur Rahman Jafar that he gave during interrogation, that many terror camps(of JAM) are running near the border with India.

National Investigation Agency has intel about possible sleeper cells of JAM already active in Bengal, who may aid in the active terror plots.
