Faizabad district in UP renamed as Sri Ayodhya by Yogi Adityanath Government

Participating at the Grand Diwali celebrations in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath made several announcements regarding the ancient city.

Addressing the gathering, the UP CM said that the Faizabad district, where the Ayodhya town is located, will be renamed as Sri Ayodhya. For some time, various organisations were demanding the renaming of Faizabad as Ayodhya. Last month, the name of Allahabad in UP was reverted to its original name Prayagraj by the Yogi government.

Adityanath also announced that a medical college will be set up in Ayodhya, which will be named after King Dasharatha, the father of Lord Ram. Ayodhya is also getting an airport, which will be known as Purshottam Bhagwan Ram Airport.

The event was organised at Ram Katha Park in Ayodhya, where First Lady of the Republic of Korea, Mrs Kim Jung was also present.

Making the announcements, the CM said that ‘Ayodhya is the symbol of our pride and prestige. It owes its identity to Lord Ram’. “I want to make sure that Lord Ram’s legacy lives forever,” he added.

Interestingly, the UP CM did not mention anything about the Ram statue that is planned to be built in Ayodhya. In the last one week, it was widely speculated that Yogi will make the announcement during Diwali. He also didn’t say anything about the Ram Mandir.
