A day after the country celebrated Diwali, the locals of Jevar, Greater Noida found the vandalised idols of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. As reported by Amar Ujala, unidentified miscreants desecrated the temple after breaking in.
The vandalised idols were found by the priest of the temple at 4 AM. He found that the miscreants had broken the arms of the Ram and Sita idols and had broken the head of the Hanuman idol.
Enraged by the incident, locals tried to block the road demanding that the culprits be arrested. The police tried to pacify the situation by installing new idols in the temple, but the locals continued their protest. As per reports, the protests are being led by Hindu organisation, Bajrang Dal.
Earlier in the month of October, three ashtadhatu murtis of Ram, Janki and Laxman were stolen from a temple in Mau, Bihar. Prior to this, two more than a century old murtis were stolen from another temple in Bihar. In a similar incident, a donation box and priceless Ashtadhatu idols of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita and Laxman were stolen from the ancient Ramjanki temple situated in Amkheda village of Uttar Pradesh.
