Kashmiri student who went ‘missing’ from Greater Noida traced to Srinagar, last location points to Pulwama district

Aihtesham Bilal, the Kashmiri student studying at Sharda University in Greater Noida, who reportedly went missing from campus on Sunday has been traced to Srinagar as per Uttar Pradesh Police. As per reports, he reached Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and then took a Go Air flight G-8-223 to Srinagar on 28th October, but he has not gone home so far.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have confirmed his presence at the airport through video footage. His phone was on till 4:30 pm on Sunday, after which it has been switched off with his last location showing the terrorist-affected Pulwama district in south Kashmir. The police said that he last called his father Bilal Ahmed Sofi to inform him that he is returning home from Delhi at 4:30 pm on Sunday after which his phone has been unreachable. He reportedly made this call from Pulwama.

Sofi was reportedly assaulted in a case of mistaken identity at the university earlier in October when a scuffle broke out between Indian and Afghan students on the campus. A missing person complaint has been filed in Greater Noida as well as in Srinagar. His family members today held a demonstration in Srinagar seeking his whereabouts.
