In an interesting turn of events, a poster has come up, of all places, inside a toilet in the Congress headquarters that claims that Kumari Selja, the chairperson of Congress Rajasthan screening committee has ‘sold’ the Phalodi assembly constituency ticket for Rs 3.5 crores. As per reports, the poster was found on Monday morning at 24, Akbar road in New Delhi.

Poster found in Congress office

The poster features Kumari Selja with another woman. It reportedly claims that the  Congress ticket for Phalodi assembly constituency has been sold at Rs 3.5 crores to Vijaylaxmi Bishnoi.

It is notable here that Kumari Selja was appointed the chairperson of the Congress screening committee back in June. After the approval of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Selja was appointed by former Rajasthan CM and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot. Lalitesh Tripathy and Shakir Sanadi were reportedly appointed members of the screening committee.

The role of a screening committee is considered vital in an assembly election because it finalises the names of the candidates and sends it to the party leadership for approval. News portal MyNation.com has quoted a Congress spokesperson as claiming the poster has been put up by ‘outsiders’. He reportedly stated that the gates of the party headquarters are open and anyone can come in.

There are already reports of a possible rivalry between Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kamal Nath for the party’s CM candidature in Madhya Pradesh. Recently there was a verbal spat between senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia over candidate selections. Though the veracity of the claims made by the posters has not been established, it is expected to raise speculations about the troubles the party has been facing as the assembly elections draw close.
