Jagroop Singh Yadav, who took charge as District Collector of Jaipur today has been embroiled in various corruption cases. Believed to be a close aide of chief minister Ashok Gehlot, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had filed a case of corruption against him for alleged misuse of office while awarding 222 sq mtr of land to two beneficiaries in 1989.
Yadav was also named in another FIR filed by the ACB in 2014 for an alleged Rs. 2.5 crore scam when he was the CEO of Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC). It was alleged that the corporation had unduly favoured a contractor for deploying security guards at various parks in the city and the officers did not even bother to check the physical presence of the guards in the parks.
Yadav was also named in the 2001 case where was accused of indulging in corrupt practices like helping ration card dealer siphon off kerosene in open market and adulteration when he was the District Supply Officer.
A Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) officer, Yadav was promoted to IAS rank in 2015. A case under section 420 (cheating), 467 (and 13(1)(D) of Prevention of Corruption Act were filed against him when he was an RAS officer. However, even when the investigation in the case was on, he was promoted as an IAS. Yadav is one of the 68 officers brought in by the newly elected Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in the large-scale bureaucratic reshuffle he undertook within days of swearing in.
