Joseph told ANI that he appeared for Michel in his professional capacity. He said that he appeared for Michel on a request made by a lawyer in Italy through a friend.

Joseph also confirmed that he is the National Incharge for the Indian Youth Congress Legal Department, as OpIndia.com had revealed in an earlier report.

Michel was extradited to India last night. The CBI has been granted his custody for five days by the Patiala House Court in Delhi. Complete details of the case can be read here.

With Sonia Gandhi and Ahmed Patel allegedly involved in the case, with a Congress leader representing Michel, it is being viewed by many as Congress’ attempt to stifle the truth and save its leaders. Even though Joseph says that he is representing Michel in his professional capacity, it would appear rather murky at this point, especially, given his official position in the party and the fact that he landed at the Congress headquarter right after the court hearing.
