BJP President Amit Shah yesterday addressed a press conference in Jaipur, Rajasthan as the election campaign came to end in the poll-bound State. He said that the party has performed really well and will definitely form the government in the state. Shah expressed confidence that the party will form government at the Centre as well after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
When questioned about giving a ticket to only one Muslim candidate in Rajasthan, Shah, replying in his typical way, said,” Kai jagah ek bhi nhi diya hai. Hum alpsankhyak-Bahusankhyak k adhaar par nhi dete (we do not give tickets based on minority or majority status of a candidate, in many places, there are no BJP candidates from the minority community). He asserted that the party only gives tickets to the deserving candidates.
On the question over Congress party’s allegation that the extradition of AgustaWestland middleman Christian Michel is BJP’s attempt to divert attention from actual issues, Shah countered by asking what could be wrong in interrogating the middleman of a scam and whether Congress wanted to save him.
When asked what was the difference between Gandhi family in Congress and the Gandhi family in BJP, Shah replied that in Congress only the people born in Gandhi family get to become the President of the party or the Prime Minister while in BJP the deserving workers get a chance based on their on their hard work.
Shah attacked the Congress party for fighting the Rajasthan election in its “traditional way” by invoking caste and doing appeasement. He said that BJP has always raised the important issues of development of the State and welfare of the poor.
