In a Facebook post, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Amit Shah, has slammed the newly elected Madhya Pradesh government led by CM Kamal Nath for the prohibition on the song ‘Vande Mataram’ in the Assembly.

Shah wrote, “The Congress party is turning the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh, into an epicentre of minority appeasement.” He said it was “shameful” and “unfortunate” that the newly elected Madhya Pradesh government had put restrictions on the National Song.

Writing on the significance of Vande Mataram, Shah wrote, “Vande Mataram is not only a song but a symbol of the Indian Independence Movement and a source for immense inspiration for every Indian. The anger of the entire nation is contained within Vande Mataram. By putting restrictions on Vande Mataram, the Congress has not only insulted the brave who sacrificed everything for the sake of Indian Independence with Vande Mataram on their lips but has also betrayed the trust of the people of Madhya Pradesh.”

Shah also demanded that Rahul Gandhi clarify his opinions on the matter. He stated, “I want to ask Congress President Rahul Gandhi if it was his decision to insult Vande Mataram. The Congress President ought to clarify his opinions in front of the citizens of India regarding the unfortunate decision of the Congress government.”

As we had reported earlier, the Congress government in the state of Madhya Pradesh led by Kamal Nath has rescinded a 13-year old tradition of singing Vande Mataram in Mantralaya on the 1st of every month.
