A Kashmiri boy from Ganderbal who had left home to join terrorism returned to his family after Jammu and Kashmir police counselled him and convinced him to come back.

Mohammed Ashraf Sofi had reportedly ran away from home to join terrorism in order to take revenge on a revenue officer. According to Mohammed Poswal, SSP of Ganderbal Khail, the boy had revealed that his father had purchased some land from a migrant family about 10 years ago but he could not take possession of the land. His family had taken the case to the revenue court and was able to get directions regarding possession from FC Revenue.
The family received another shock when the boy’s father died four days ago due to illness while the land dispute was still pending. The boy was disturbed by his father’s death and the delay in settling the dispute. He wanted to take revenge from the revenue authorities and especially the Tehsildar of Ganderbal.
The police traced the location of the boy after he ran away. The police rushed to the location and convinced the boy to return home assuring him that the dispute will be resolved by the revenue authorities at the earliest. The boy was handed over to his family.
