On the occasion of Republic Day celebrations in the country, a bizarre event took place in Madhya Pradesh (MP) which has caused huge embarrassment for the Congress party after Imarti Devi, Woman and Child Development Minister, failed to read her Republic Day speech and instead asked the district collector Bharat Yadav to continue her speech.
A video of the incident has been shared by the news agency ANI, has now gone viral on social media, in which it can be seen that the Congress leader Imarti Devi finding difficult to read her speech after which she stopped and said ” Collector saheb padhenge (collector will read)”.

However, after the video went viral, Devi speaking to the media said she was not well for the past two days. “I was sick for the past two days, you can ask the doctor. But it is okay. the collector read it (the speech) properly,” Devi said.
Imarti Devi is a three-time MLA from Dabra Vidhan Sabha constituency of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. She won the first elections in 2008 and subsequently winning the next two elections to become the Woman and Child Development Minister in the Kamal Nath led Congress government.
However, Imarti Devi in her election affidavit claims that she has passed 12th From Govt. Higher Secondary School of Bhind, Madhya Pradesh in 2000. As per her election affidavit filed, a case under Section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act was filed against her in November 2016.
