Uttar Pradesh Cheif Minister Yogi Aditiynath inaugurated the much-awaited Aqua Line of the Noida Metro today. The metro rail connects the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida. The corridor is 29.7-km long and consists of 21 stations, of which 15 are in Noida and six in Greater Noida. It will provide convenience to passengers commuting between the twin cities.

The line will be maintained and run by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for one year, and later will get handed over to Noida Metro Rail Corporation.
The trains on the line are designed to run at a maximum speed of 80 kmph, with an average speed of 37.5 kmph. The Aqua Line will cover 21 stations: Noida sector 76, 101,81, NSEZ, Noida Sector 83, 137,142, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park II, Pari Pari Chowk, Alpha 1, Delta 1, GNIDA Office and Depot metro station. 16 of these stations will be equipped with parking facilities. The stations of the Noida Metro will be powered by solar electricity.
However, the Aqua line will not be directly connected to DMRC Lines. A commuter, say, travelling from Noida to Delhi or Gurugram will have to deboard at Noida Sector 51 and take a cab or public transport up to Noida City Center to catch the DMRC’s blue line. Also, the DMRC metro cards or tokens will not work on the Aqua Line, as it is operated by Noida Metro Rail Corporation.
The minimum fare to travel on the line is Rs 9 and the maximum is Rs 50. Commuters can buy QR-based coded paper tickets or use NMRC’s smart cards to travel.
The inauguration of the metro was earlier slated to be on 25th December. However, it got delayed due to technical reasons. The constriction of the project was started in May 2015.
