Prime Minister Modi in his interview to the news agency ANI clarifying BJP’s separate stands Triple Talaq and Sabarimala issues said that the two are different issues.

Clearing the air on BJP’s contradictory stand on the controversial Triple Talaq ordinance and the ban of women’s entry between the age group of 10-50 years of age, PM Modi said, “Many Islamic countries of the world have banned the Triple Talaq, hence it is not a matter of faith for the religion. Had it been a matter of faith, Triple Talaq would have been practised in these countries. Even Pakistan has banned Triple Talaq. This shows it is a matter of gender equality. It is a matter of social justice.”
“Secondly, India believes everyone should get equal rights. Some temples in India have their own customs and traditions. Some temples have banned the entry of men and men do not visit them. In this, Sabarimala, a woman judge in the Supreme Court has made certain observations. It needs to be read minutely. There is no need to attribute those to any political party. As a woman, she has made some suggestions. There should be a debate on that as well sometimes,” PM Modi said.
