As Kejriwal rants against ‘actress’ Kirron Kher, Gul Panag comes out in her support

Arvind Kejriwal launches personal attack against Kirron Kher

Addressing a rally at Chandigarh, Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, on Sunday attacked BJP MP from the city, Kirron Kher, over her profession. He said, “How often have you seen Kirron Kher in Chandigarh? She is an actress and does not have any concern with the people of the city. She is a busy actress and lives in Mumbai. Can you list even a single development work done by her?”

Kher slammed the Aam Aadmi Party supremo for his words and accused him of being a habitual liar. She said, “Kejriwal should have done his homework before making any statement. I have the highest presence in Parliament. I am always present in Chandigarh every other day. Kejriwal is used to telling lies. In Delhi, there is hardly any authority, with which he hasn’t come into confrontation. Why have so many senior AAP leaders left the party? It’s only because of him. He was a product of the Anna Hazare movement and he also left him. Chandigarh will reject AAP and Kejriwal this time as well.”

Gul Panag, who has long been associated with AAP and contested the Lok Sabha seat from Chandigarh in 2014, expressed her disagreement over Kejriwal’s statements as well. She said on Twitter, “Denigrating someone for their profession is not in good taste. The electoral discourse needs to rise above this kind of talk. It needs to about real issues. Not personal attacks and whataboutery.”

The Chandigarh MP appreciated Panag’s support.

Worryingly for Kejriwal, hardly anyone had turned up for the rally. Although the party had expected 10,000 people to attend the rally, they were greeted with lots of empty chairs on Sunday. The Delhi CM was, in fact, forced to delay his speech by over an hour due to the poor attendance. When did begin, he ended his speech quickly due to the poor turn out citing other commitments.
