The government has issued red alerts on the entire network of Delhi metro amid the heightened tension between India and Pakistan. The red alert was issued as per the advice of security agencies, and the alert has been made effective from 6 PM this evening.
“As advised by security agencies, Red Alert has been imposed in entire DMRC network from 6PM onwards today,” a statement issued by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said.

As per protocols of red alert, all station controllers are required to inspect the entire station every two hours and report the same to the control centre. They have to look for any suspicious items or activities on the station premises, including parking lots.
After the terror attack at Pulwama, Indian Air Force had bombed terrorist camps in Pakistan yesterday. Pakistan Air Force attacked Indian defence bases today as retaliation, but Pakistan’s F-16 jets were chased away by IAF’s MiG-21 jets, and one F-16 jet was shot down. India also lost one MiG-21 in the process, and the pilot has been captured by Pakistan.
Following these incidents, there are increased chance of terror attacks by Pakistan based terrorists in India, and public places like the Delhi Metro can be prime targets of such terror operations. The red alert for Delhi Metro has been issued on threat perception of such attacks.
