In a shocking new low, political orator, Nanjil Sampath, who was campaigning for Congress in Puducherry made egregious comments against the Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi.

While campaigning in Puducherry for former Chief Minister and Congress’ Lok Sabha candidate V Vaithilingam on Wednesday, Sampath resorted to derogatory remarks against Kiran Bedi, calling her a ‘BJP Governor’. He also mistakenly refers to Kiran Bedi as Nirav Modi. After being corrected, he went on to pass misogynistic and transphobic slurs against the Puducherry governor.

“There are 21 BJP governors in India. Here one woman, Nirav Modi, (promptly gets corrected by people behind him)…Kiran Bedi. She has been perpetrating atrocities here. Is she a constitutionally chosen authority? Should you be sent here after being castrated in Delhi?” Sampath said. The people standing behind Sampath smile as he continues making disparaging slurs against Kiran Bedi. Sampath also raised allegations of obstructing the Puducherry Chief Minister Narayanasamy’s welfare schemes against Bedi. “Is this how a democracy works?” he questioned.

The former AIADMK politician is currently campaigning for the DMK-Congress alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The shockingly appalling remarks from Nanjil Sampath come just days after the DMK suspended Radha Ravi for passing sexist comments against actor Nayantara. However, this is not the first time that Sampath finds himself in the eye of the storm. Last time, Sampath was sacked from the AIADMK after he made a scathing attack on Vaiko’s MDMK in an interview and also passed callous comments about the floods in Chennai during December 2015.

The Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Puducherry, V Vaithilingam, however, wasn’t present during the speech. He has worked as the Speaker of Puducherry Legislative Assembly and served as Chief Minister of Puducherry. He was selected by Congress as the candidate for Puducherry parliamentary seat and had filed his nomination for the elections on March 22.
