Pakistan has again violated ceasefire in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir. This is another of the ceasefire violations that have taken place in the last few days amidst mounting tensions between India and Pakistan.

The firing reportedly started around 5:30 a.m. with mortars and small arms which was retaliated by the Indian Army.

Ever since the Indian Air Force conducted airstrikes on Jaish-e-Mohammad camp in Balakot, Pakistan has been indulging in repeated unprovoked ceasefire violations along the LoC. On one hand, Pakistani Prime Minister talks of making peace with India, while on the other hand it keeps violating the ceasefire.

A similar ceasefire violation by Pakistan within hours of the Pakistan PM Imran Khan announcing the return of Wing Commander Abhinandan under Geneva Convention, had killed 3 people including a nine-month baby, a five-year-old child and the mother. The father of the children was also injured and severe damage was caused to some houses in the area.

While Pakistani PM Imran Khan keeps harping on establishing peace between the two countries, the frequent ceasefire violations expose the shallowness of Pakistan’s intentions of making peace.
