BJP national President Amit Shah came out in defense of BJP candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur today saying that a false case was filed against her in the name of Hindu terror to malign the Indian culture.
Speaking at a press conference in Kolkata, Shah said, “As far as Sadhvi Pragya is concerned, I would say that a fake case was filed in the name of Hindu terror. The culture if this country was maligned in the world. But the case turned out to be false in the court.”

Speaking at a media conference, Shah cited the example of the verdict in the Samjhauta Express case in which court had acquitted the four accused including Swami Aseemanand, and questioned that if Swami Aseemanand and the other accused were falsely implicated in the case, where did the real culprits go?

He was questioned as to why were the people who were initially arrested in the Samjhauta Express case, let off.
Sadhvi Pragya has been in the eye of the storm ever since her candidature was announced by the party. She received a lot of backlash and after she took the name of former ATS Chief late Hemant Karkare for allegedly subjecting her to extreme torture during her custody.
PM Modi, in an interview to Times now, had also defended the candidature of Sadhvi Pragya Thakur. PM Modi had stated that if the candidature of ‘out on bail’ Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi is not being questioned, why should Sadhvi Pragya’s candidature is being frowned upon.
PM Modi had also asserted that the BJP fielding Sadhvi Pragya is a symbolic answer to Congress ‘Hindu terror’ narrative.
