Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi today made a massive self-goal as he tried to play the divisive caste card to side with BJP’s Udit Raj who was denied a Lok Sabha ticket in favour of singer Hans Raj Hans. In a tweet, Singhvi said that by denying a ticket to Dr Udit Raj, who is currently sitting MP from North West Delhi, the BJP has shown its anti-Dalit side to the people.

Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s now deleted tweet

Except, in his haste to score political brownie points over caste, Singhvi forgot that North West Delhi is a reserved seat which means that this seat is reserved for candidates who belong to the scheduled castes. That means, Hans Raj Hans, the candidate who is being fielded from North West Delhi constituency also belongs to the scheduled caste.

Singhvi was called out for his faux pas on Twitter.
