On Monday, Rahul Gandhi was forced to apologize before the Supreme Court for attributing his own misguided opinions to the highest court of the country. He admitted that the Court, contrary to his claims, hadn’t said anything remotely close to ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ in its recent Rafale verdict.
However, within a mere couple of hours, the Congress President was back to chanting the same slogan at a rally in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi had distorted the SC order while talking to the media, and said that Supreme Court has accepted that there is some form of corruption in Rafale deal and that “chowkidaar ne chori karwayi hai”.
The Supreme Court observed that it had on “no occasion” made any comments as attributed by Gandhi and that the judgment was solely on the legal question of admissibility of documents produced by review petitioners. The top court has asked Rahul Gandhi to reply by April 22.
Thus, it appears while Rahul Gandhi has conceded that the Supreme Court does not believe ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’, the slogan will continue to feature prominently in his campaign trail in the days to come.
