25% voter turnout recorded in Phase 6 of Lok Sabha Elections till 11 AM

Campaigning by political parties during state elections

Phase 6 of the Lok Sabha Elections are currently underway. The BJP had won 44 of the 59 seats that went to polls today in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The 2019 General Elections, thus far, have witnessed a high voter turnout and is poised to overtake the previous General Elections to become the one with the highest turnout.

The voter turnout recorded in Phase 6 till 11 a.m. was at 24.98%. The turnout in West Bengal was highest at 38.08% while it was lowest in Delhi with 19.49%. Jharkhand, too, registered a turnout of over 31%.

While the day is far from over, it is indeed a very good start to the day. Some key battles are being fought across the states and a high voter turnout generally suits the Bharatiya Janata Party.

This time around, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been urging people to come out and vote in large numbers. Numerous celebrities, too, have joined in the campaign upon being requested by the Prime Minister. And as figures for the first four phases show, people have been coming out in large numbers to exercise their democratic right.
