Earlier, violent clashes had erupted once again in Bhatpara area in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal following the visit of a three-member delegation of the BJP to the area. Slogans condemning the West Bengal police were raised during the visit of the delegation. According to reports, bombs were also hurled after which the police charged batons on the locals to stop the violence.

“When the clash between the two groups took place, police baton-charged one group and shot at the other. We want to know who took that decision? Who was behind this conspiracy? There should be a thorough probe into this. We will submit the report to (Union Home Minister) Amit Shah and apprise him of the on-ground situation here,” IANS quoted Ahluwalia as saying.

The BJP delegation consisting of former Union Minister S S Ahluwalia, Members of Parliament Satyapal Singh and BD Ram, had visited Bhatpara to review the situation and investigate the reports of violence against BJP workers after violent clashes on Thursday claimed the lives of 2 people and injured several.

Mamata Banerjee has been agitated several times before by the chants of Jai Shree Ram. She had recently said that she will continue to oppose ‘Jai Shree Ram’ to save the secular character of the country.
