Security agencies at the Vadodara airport in Gujarat have foiled a possible terror plot. According to reports, RDX was detected in a parcel inside the aircraft’s cargo. The parcel was addressed to Punjab.

Security personnel had found the parcel to be suspicious during security checking and the parcel was segregated. After further examination, the authorities have now confirmed that the initial tests have indeed indicated traces of RDX in the parcel. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) have rushed to the airport.

Security agencies suspect that this was an attempt to smuggle RDX to Punjab and they are still trying to figure out who was responsible for this.

Doubts have been raised that this incident may have links with the revival of the Khalistani movement. In December 2018, the interrogation of the suspected terrorist Shabnamdeep Singh has revealed detailed plans of reviving Khalistani militancy in the state of Punjab. Khalistan Gadar Force is allegedly being formed under the guidance of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.
