Vora, who is a co-accused in the National Herald scam, said that Rahul Gandhi took steps to strengthen the party and continues to be their leader. As per Republic TV, Vora credited Rahul Gandhi for forming government in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh state assemblies. Vora added that Rahul Gandhi continues to be the leader. He said that he still considers Rahul Gandhi as President and Congress leaders will insist Rahul Gandhi takes back his resignation.
It was also speculated that Congress may appoint Sushil Kumar Shinde, a popular Dalit leader in poll-bound Maharashtra as party chief.
