Bidding farewell to the Gandhi scion Rahul Gandhi after he remained insistent on resigning from the post of Congress presidency, Robert Vadra, Gandhi’s brother-in-law, in a post uploaded on his Social Media accounts today said that he has a ‘lot to learn’ from Rahul Gandhi. The post comes following Rahul Gandhi’s persistent denial from withdrawing his resignation, submitted after a humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.

Vadra further asserted that the population of the country, out of which 65per cent is ‘young’ i.e below the age of 45 years, look up to Rahul for inspiration and right direction. He lauded Rahul Gandhi’s decision of owning up the accountability of the 2019 Lok Sabha defeat by tendering his resignation and stated that he is with Rahul in his service to the nation.

After the disastrous poll drubbing that Congress received in the Lok Sabha 2019 elections, in which Rahul himself lost what was touted as prestige battle in Amethi, against Smriti Irani, he offered his resignation to the Congress Working Committee and asked them to find a suitable and a competent person to head over the Congress party.

While the CWC summarily rejected Rahul Gandhi’s resignation but in the subsequent meetings, Rahul made it amply clear that he is adamant on his resignation and expects party leaders too to own up the accountability of the task assigned to them. He had expressed his anguish that not many leaders in the party were owning up the defeat. This triggered nationwide mass resignations. Many prominent Congress leaders tendered their resignations, holding themselves responsible for the poor performance of the party in their respective areas.
