In a flurry of disqualifications for the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP), today, AAP MLA Sandeep Kumar, infamous for the ration card sex scandal has been disqualified from the party for supporting BSP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The MLA from Sultanpur Majra constituency was accused of harming the prospects of the party in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by supporting the BSP. A few weeks back, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj had filed a petition seeking disqualification of Kumar. Following this, Speaker Ramnivas Goyal held Sandeep Kumar ineligible.
Former Delhi’s Social Welfare Minister Sandeep Kumar was earlier sacked by CM Arvind Kejriwal after receiving an ‘objectionable’ CD in which he was purportedly shown in a compromising position with a woman. Kejriwal had then stated that Kumar had betrayed the faith of AAP supporters and therefore deserved sacking. Kumar, in his defence, claimed that a plan was hatched up against him because he was a dalit.
It is noteworthy to mention that this is 4th disqualification in the past one month for AAP. Recently, rebel leader Kapil Mishra was earlier disqualified for sabotaging party’s prospects in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by actively rallying behind Prime Minister Modi. Mishra joined the BJP a couple of days back.
