In a shocking incident, the Unnao rape accused Kuldeep Sengar’s close aide Rinku Shukla was caught on camera bribing a policeman on duty outside the Sitapur jail where Sengar is currently lodged.

Rinku Shukla when confronted by Republic TV, agreed of not only giving money to the cop but also meeting the expelled BJP MLA, Kuldeep Sengar in jail. But he, however, claimed that he was not bribing the cop. “No, it is not my mentality to think that I will be allowed to meet Sengar only if I gave the cop money, I offered him money to have some tea as he was standing under the hot sun. I might have given him Rs 10-20. It was not a bribe,” he said.

Speaking about his political affiliation, Shukla said, “I am not a member of BJP but I am allied with the party. I am a Jila Panchayat member.  I am an Independent leader.”

He also agreed on meeting Sengar in jail. “I met him around 10-15 days ago. I met him with some other people. I met him as he was also an MLA like me. Many people meet him.”

UP jail administration has ordered an inquiry into the video shown on Republic TV where Sengar’s close aide is seen offering money to police officials. “I have not seen the video but it has come to our knowledge. We will get the matter probed and strict action will be taken. If policemen are found guilty they will be dismissed,” said Director General (DG), Prisons, Anand Kumar.

On Thursday, Republic TV came out with five videos that suggested the Unnao rape-accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s aides were bribing the police in exchange to be allowed to meet the MLA.

Former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar is the prime accused in the 2017 high profile rape case. The case pertains to how the victim was lured and raped by a host of people, including the BJP MLA and how co-ordinated and meticulous schemes were hatched to silent the victim and intimidate her relatives by framing them in police cases based on flippant charges.

On Sunday, the victim of the Unnao rape case was travelling to Rae Bareli with her two aunts, and her lawyer Mahendra Singh when their vehicle was hit by a truck, rendering them critically injured. The vehicle collided with a truck going in the opposite direction towards Lalganj in UP. The victim is now battling for her life.

Two of her aunts were killed in the accident while her lawyer also sustained serious injuries. The woman’s family has filed a complaint alleging “conspiracy” behind the car crash.

The Supreme Court has instructed CBI to conclude the accident probe within 7 days. The trial court to hear the case on a day to day basis and complete the same within 45 days, said the CJI-led Supreme Court bench.

The SC bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has also delivered an order to transfer of five cases from Unnao rape case and accident to a competent court in Delhi.
