Rajasthan’s Alwar has become a hotbed of cow smuggling as scores of incidents of cow theft are routinely reported from the district. In the latest incident, one Munafed Khan was beaten up by the villagers in Khusa ki Dhani area of Shahjahanpur in Rajasthan’s Alwar on the suspicion of smuggling cows. The police found 7 bovine animals in Munafed’s vehicle.
The incident pertains to Sunday late evening when Munafed was trying hard to escape police barrier but instead was caught up by the alert villagers who confronted him and started thrashing him believing that he was smuggling cows. This is not the first time that Munafed has been involved in cow smuggling incidents. In the past too, Munafed had been involved in the incidents of smuggling cows.
The crowd was so violently pounding Munafed that the police had to intervene and stop the people from beating him up. Realising that Munafed was seriously injured by the mob, the police immediately admitted him to a hospital in Shahjahanpur. Munafed sustained multiple fractures at many places in his body by mob beating before being rescued by the police.
As per reports, there were five others involved in cow smuggling, two of whom have escaped.

The entire Mewat region of Haryana and Rajasthan has been the preferred area of operation for cow smugglers. Several incidents of cow smugglers being confronted by locals have been reported. The cow smugglers do not shy away from using violent methods to evade overpowering crowd and law enforcement agencies. Many incidents have occurred in which cow smugglers have shot at the protestors and police in an attempt to escape. In one such incident in July 2019, a cow smuggler, Salim, shot at locals and injured 2 people who were opposing him. However, he was later caught by the villagers and handed over to police.
