Imran Khan and COAS Bipin Rawat

Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has confirmed that terrorist camps across the LoC in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir were indeed hit by the Indian Army. He said that last evening, Pakistani forces opened fire at Indian Army posts where we did suffer but the Indian Army retaliated and incurred severe damages to terrorist infrastructure across the LoC. We had reported earlier that two Army Jawans and one civilian had died in Pakistani firing.

DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor, whose Twitter username, in a case of remarkable irony, is ‘@peaceforchance’, is continuing his grandstanding on the social media network. He claimed that the Indian Army was ‘struggling’ to ‘pick dead bodies’ and ‘evacuate injured soldiers’.

Ghafoor’s comments aren’t surprising considering the fact that the Pakistani military establishment staunchly advocated that only trees were harmed during the Balakot airstrikes despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Amusingly enough, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan himself admitted that the Balakot strikes did occur and claimed that India was planning something even more sinister.

Amidst all of this, Congress leader Akhilesh Singh claimed that a pattern has emerged of the Indian Army pursuing military action against Pakistan ahead of elections which is then by the BJP to win elections. The statement came ahead of the Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly Elections slated to occur on the 21st of October.
