Muzaffarabad: 2 killed, 80 injured as Pakistan unleashes violence on protesters against its illegal occupation of PoK

Police lathicharging peaceful protestors protesting against Pakistan's illegal occupation of Kashmir in PoK

Two civilians have died and over 80 injured in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK)’s Muzaffarabad as the peaceful protests against Pakistan’s illegal occupation of Kashmir turned violent. October 22 is observed as ‘Black Day’ to mark the invasion of Pakistani troops in Kashmir back in 1947.

Various political parties under the banner of All Independent Parties Alliance (AIPA) had come together in Muzaffarabad for a ‘pro-freedom’ rally against Pakistan’s illegal occupation of Kashmir.

The day is marked as ‘Black Day’ in Pakistan as people in PoK and Gilgit Baltistan demand Pakistan leave their territory. However, Pakistan police resorted to lathicharge on peaceful protestors and used tear gas.

The protests in Muzaffarabad happened on a day when Pakistani Army had taken foreign diplomats to PoK to show that there are no terror camps on their soil.

In another incident later in the day, police in Pakistan raided a press club in Muzaffarabad when a media briefing was being held by Jammu Kashmir People’s National Alliance (JKPNA). The police lathicharged the journalists and even broke their recording equipments.
