Congress crumbles in Madhya Pradesh: Over 200 workers resign in Gwalior following Jyotiraditya Scindia’s lead

Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia to join BJP, claim media reports

The crisis for the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh has intensified further. After senior leader Jyotiraditya Scindia’s resignation from the party, 22 MLAs including six ministers had submitted their resignation. And now, reports are coming in that over 200 workers of the Congress party have resigned in Gwalior. The city is the bastion of the Scindia family.

The setback to Congress is expected to cost them their rule over Madhya Pradesh. It may take a significant number of years for the party to recover from the jolt. Jyotiraditya Scindia is expected to join the BJP and if he does, others in his faction are likely to follow suit as well.

The rift between Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia had been growing for a while. However, it appears that Congress did not take adequate measures to bridge the gap. Meanwhile, ’eminent journalists’ were claiming last year that Jyotiraditya Scindia is ‘no faction’ and “Kamal Nath’s abilities to even manage the BJP is pretty commendable”.

Meanwhile, Congress supporters have resorted to trolling Jyotiraditya’s son Mahanaryaman on social media for saying that he is proud of his father. Amidst all of this, the return of Shivraj Singh ‘Mamaji’ Chauhan to the seat of Chief Minister appears imminent.
